Half a century of life for "Sa Festa":
kicks off the 50th edition of the Citrus Festival

The Muravera Citrus Festival celebrates its 50th edition this year. From April 24 to 28, the streets and squares of downtown Muravera will come alive with an event that marks the arrival of spring and the beginning of the tourist season. The Municipality of Muravera, in collaboration with the Pro loco “Murera” and the support of the Region of Sardinia, organizes this annual festival, which has established itself as one of the island’s leading festivals. The festival, which has been held since 1961, is an important event for the local community and attracts many visitors every year.
During the event, visitors can enjoy not only citrus fruits, but also local breads, cheeses, honey, wines and sweets. The event also includes costume parades, folk shows, photo exhibitions and various music and dance performances. Among the highlights is the traditional Sardinian dress parade, which offers a unique fusion of past and present.
Last year, the event had about 50,000 attendees, marking a significant revival after interruptions caused by the pandemic. This year, with the addition of special events such as “Curri Murera,” an 8-kilometer run and a 5-kilometer walk through the citrus groves, is expected to further
increase participation.
The celebrations will culminate on April 28 with an evening dedicated to great traditions, including performances by folk groups and traditional musicians. It is a perfect opportunity to enjoy the first warm days of spring, discover the local beauty and immerse yourself in the traditions and culture of Muravera and Sarrabus.
