The House of the Countess

On a promontory overlooking the sea is the old abandoned villa known to all as “the House of the Countess,” considered the first residence built in Costa Rei.

Despite being in a state of neglect for decades, this villa is steeped in history and mystery. Vegetation has invaded every corner, many walls have collapsed and are covered with graffiti and murals, creating a decadent yet fascinating atmosphere. The writings left over the years by local youth or casual visitors become a kind of chronicle of several generations, telling stories from the 1980s to the present day, from celebrations to the sad death of Kurt Cobain.

Despite the decay, it is still possible to imagine the beauty that once characterized this villa. The pool, columned porch, and veranda overlooking the coastal landscape are still visible, offering a glimpse of past life in this fascinating place.

Who exactly the “Countess” was remains shrouded in mystery. According to local legends, she may have been a woman from northern Italy, wealthy and heartbroken over the loss of her son, which occurred under tragic circumstances that still fuel local folklore.

Come and discover the history and charm of the Countess House, a place that holds secrets and legends to explore.”
