Tower of the 10 Horses
Nestled a short distance from the bustling town of Costa Rei, the Tower of the 10 Horses is an authentic historical gem not to be missed during your visit to Muravera. Carefully restored, this ancient tower has regained its former glory, conveying vitality and charm to visitors.
Brief historical background: built in the 16th century with a primarily defensive function, the tower testifies to Muravera’s strategic importance against attacks from the sea, which were particularly frequent and dangerous at the time. It is said that it was surrounded by defensive walls, which have now disappeared but certainly helped protect the town. A must-visit is during the summer event “Ohi su Moru!” held on the last Sunday of July each year. During this theatrical performance, the epic defense of the tower against attackers from the sea is relived, a tribute to the courageous resistance of the people of Muravera.
